What’s NEW in The Settlers of Catan? Settlers of Catan features an all sea interlocking board Frame, printed both sides. Settlers of Catan features 19 tiles, all with different art and backprinted in sea. Each tile in the basic game, expansion or extension will be special featuring new art. Settlers of Catan features exquisite high quality plastic dice.

Settlers of Catan, Cities and Kights and Seafarers of Catan will each feature a plastic tray designed to hold the basic unit and its extension.

In what has become the most ambitious project of its company history, Mayfair Games, Inc. drew upon all of its manpower, experience, and customer feedback to give birth to this new and gorgeous manifestation of Catan.

Because Catan products are very popular, we always strive to offer our loyal consumers the best product possible. That is why we have made several attractive and helpful additions to make playing the Catan line even more enjoyable. The re-launch features stunning new cover graphics, beautifully rendered tile and card art, and full color rule books.

We also made several exciting additions to the actual game components to improve set-up time, organization, and even board stability during play. First, we added a two sided interlocking sea frame, which cuts in half the time needed to set up the game board. It also ensures that the board will stay firmly in place during the entire game. Second, we added a plastic tray to hold the all game components in place and keep them organized for your next game. Last but not least, we included some durable and high quality plastic dice.

This description just scratches the surface, as this re-launch holds many surprises and invites new as well as seasoned Catan players to explore hidden treasures of story telling. Every effort has gone into the details of this large project. For instance, each resource tile in the game is unique, different, and specially designed.

The excitement and sense of pride for the new English version of the game transcends the core team of Mayfair Games. Catan designer Klaus Teuber was closely involved in the process of revamping the look and feel of his game creation! "Throughout recent years, I have talked extensively with the Mayfair Team about a Catan re-launch for the English language," Teuber said. "I remember the excitement when I saw the first art concepts rolling in and I was particularly blown away by the cover art and the illustrations of the landscapes and resources!"

Klaus Teuber is very pleased with the cover art by Volkan Baga, who managed to convincingly present the historical evolution of Catan from the first settlements to the era of Cities and Knights.

Dark clouds gather over the once peaceful landscape. Wild barbarians, lured by Catan’s wealth and power, maneuver to attack. Their massive warships loom against the bright orange horizon. You must be strong! Barbarians attack the weakest targets, and the victim of their onslaught will be the player who contributes the least to the defense of Catan. Don’t take any chances! In Catan: Cities & Knights you engage in the defense of Catan and compete to build the three great metropolises of Catan. Each of these magnificent centers are even more valuable than cities and are safe from the barbarians. You must invest in city improvements, which you acquire using three commodities of trade: coin, paper, and cloth. If you improve your culture, muster your knights, and enrich your fine cities, you will be the master of the great realm of Catan!
